Track Listing / Lyrics

1. Confession
I confess
I am writing to you my full confession
“I am less than half of what you see
And much more than guilty…”
I’m more or less anomaly
I am a livewire.
Just tape me up and write your biggest warning:
I might not flash about, but I’m still learning…
More or less…
Now I confess…

Part the seas and lead me across
I am lost, and I am broken…
People say “you must be joking…”
But that’s just the way I am…
It’s just way I am…

A votive candle…
I’m a prayer boat floating down the English channel
And out to sea…
Hiking out to windward like a refugee…
To the cathedral…
Through endless miles, and starry spirals I’m walking
Out of the blue, I’m here to do the talking…
I’m am sincere…
Absolve, absolve, absolve…
Then disappear…

So part the seas and lead me across
Am I lost? What a shame…
Here’s my sermon….
My harangue, harangue, harangue…
Father it’s been ages since I came to confess…
I confess…

2. Living in Infinity

The journey begins
With a great explosion
A subtle dance in fluid motion
Which leads to the center of the heart
There’s power in this hidden art…
Swaying to the rhythm of a celestial tune
It finds the touch to heal the wound…

Set your spirit free! We are all living in infinity…

The head is an overrated protrusion
Promising truth, while dealing illusion
The heart bets jack, a king and ace…
Are equal parts of the human race
We are all fathers, sons and daughters
We all share the same baptismal waters

Set your spirit free! We are all living in infinity…

Let’s open the door to a brave new solution
And embrace a perfect evolution…
Unbuckle our sandals and with feet bare
Feel earth’s rich soil and take in the air!
Let’s free the mind from the world’s confusion
And the body from the world’s pollution…

Set your spirit free! We are all living in infinity…

3. Speechless

-Instrumental-

4. Sketches of Eli
He broke her heart or so I suppose
What power he holds only she knows…
I reached for her hand, she gave in return
I was hopeful of love only to learn
She’d been drawing

Sketches of Eli with eyes open wide
Sketches of Eli face turned to the side
Sketches of Eli with arms raised high
Sketches of Eli in a coat and a tie…

I stayed beside her though some secret pain
Would rise and subside like a hot summer rain
Drawn together yet pulled apart
By the strange alchemy of her secret art

Sketches of Eli with eyes on fire
Sketches of Eli mouth drawn tight like a wire
Sketches of Eli with fists clinched tight
Sketches of Eli turning in flight…

What is there for you to do
When unseen eyes are glaring at you?
An unseen face looking over your shoulder
Making the flames of love grow colder…

We were together through autumn’s blaze
In winter’s frost we shared the days
Convinced at last I thought he was gone
Then one day I happened upon her..

Sketches of Eli with a merciless grin
Sketches of Eli with a bottle of gin
Sketches of Eli heading out to the shed
Sketches of Eli with a gun to his head…

What is there for you to do
When unseen eyes are glaring at you?
An unseen face looking over your shoulder
Making the flames of love grow colder…

5. You Don't Know the Half of It
You drove by my house but I wasn’t home
You found me at the Sin-é sitting alone
Did my face light up? Or did you happen to see…
There’s a problem with us, or maybe just me…

But you don’t know the half of it…

You think that I’m lazy when I don’t take time to call
I’m way too forgetful to remember anything at all…
And too busy to bother, maybe you’re starting to see…
There’s a problem with us… or is it just me?

But you don’t know the half of it…

You want it so badly
You can’t help but try
To look past the indifference and the casual lie…
You try to to be patient caring and kind…
It’ll be all right… just give it time!

You want it so badly
You can’t help but try
To look past the indifference and the casual lie…
You’ve out run your patience
You think I’m unkind….
Then one day… you wake up to find that…

You don’t know the half of it….

6. Passport

-Instrumental-

7. Voodoo Rhythms
Your magic is working
I can hear the sound of drums…
Your voodoo swirls in rhythm
And curls around your drums…

And I will be yours when the night falls…

You dance before your mirror
You beat upon your drums
You flicker like a candle…
You rattle like a drum…

And I will be yours when the night falls…

The pungent scent of spices
Smoke rings and your drums…
Kaleidoscope and colors
Conjured by your drums …

Oh I will be yours when the night falls…

8. Jenny Walks Alone
She sits on the corner of Delaney and Gore
In a city of brick and stone
With a tilt of her head, by voices she’s lead
Too many but all her own…

This one is shrill, that one is tender
They’re only there to help her remember
Jenny walks alone…

And yesterday Jenny was turning twenty
It was a special day
She sat in the dirt and fed all the birds
Until they flew away…

Then some mother’s eyes full of suspicion
Follow behind as to the mission
Jenny walks alone…

Everyone has a story to tell
With sorrows and they are plenty
But who would know what loneliness is
Must walk in the shoes of Jenny…

Along with a roll her soup in a bowl
Traditional homeless fair
She mumbled and muttered
And glanced at the others, thankful for what she had there…

Then in the chapel a hymn and a sermon
And up to the showers the ghost of a woman
Jenny walks alone…
Jenny walks alone…

And on the small bed she laid back her head
And looked like a girl again
Her fingers entwined, she only has nine
Her father was an angry man…

All over her body she carries the scars
And while other girls are driving their cars
Jenny walks alone…
Jenny walks alone…

Everyone has a story to tell
With sorrows and they are plenty
But who would know what loneliness is
Must walk in the shoes of Jenny…

9. Iris
Her saffron hair tumbles like lace
To ivory shoulders, and round her face
Two sapphire pools are there suspended
Her soft lips pillows of deepest crimson

Drag your colors across the skies
A thousand colors in my eyes
Come a bit closer, give me a sign
Tell me the future, open your mind

She smiles and roses fill her cheeks
And dimpled shadows when she speaks
Her neck a curve of alabaster
Always makes my heart beat fast

Drag your colors across the sky
A thousand colors in my eye
Come a bit closer, let your light shine
Tell me the future, say you’ll be mine…

Her image in dreams softly plays
Each hue onto my canvass strays
I’m lost in her prism, I’m covered in light
Each shade of the spectrum lights up the night

Drag your colors across the sky
A thousand colors in my eye
Open your pallet, give me a sign!
Paint me a rainbow, say you’ll be mine…

10. She Walks Away
The sun through her hair is a halo
As she walks away
She’s a silhouette, a cameo,
I cannot make her stay
If I could wear her round my neck
Like a sacred charm!
Or hold her even closer yet,
Like a tattoo on my arm…

As it is I have to watch her go
What else can I do?
And as she leaves my broken heart
Turns a shade of blue…
Blue, blue, and deeper blue
The blood within my veins
Oh send the leeches onto me
To bleed away my pains
To suck away the poisons of
This bruised and broken heart
And knit back together
What love has torn apart!

Oh suck away the poisons from
This bruised and broken heart
And knit back together what love has torn apart
No let me stay the way I am
Though bloodied, bruised and scarred
My wounds were fashioned in her heart
And by her hands were carved!
These wounds will often speak to me
In silence they’ll remind
That where love wounds and weakens
It leaves tenderness behind
So though she walks away from me
Somehow I’ll make it through
I’ll hang a cameo ’round my neck
Oh it’s all that I can do!
It’s all that I can do…
